Katie trainingThe countdown to the mHealth Grand Tour bike ride from Brussels to Barcelona continues. 4 weeks from now riders  will  start their second day of cycling, leavingn from La Roche en Ardennes in the morning.

With the tour fast approaching, we thought it was the perfect time to get to know the riders from IDF Europe & TeamBG. Ladies first: today we want to you meet Katie Gallagher from IDF Europe.

Katie joined IDF Europe in Spring 2011 to work as Policy Officer. She mostly works on advocacy and policy related activities. A significant part of her work includes coordinating IDF Europe’s Youth Leadership Camps.

Katie will take part in the tour – riding the 2,100 km from Brussels to Barcelona in relay with a riding buddy. Asked about the Grand Tour, Katie answers: “I think the tour will be an excellent opportunity to raise awareness and advocate about diabetes and sports. I am a great believer in all benefits that come from sports; nothing beats a good physical activity session! The grand tour has a great potential to stimulate and motivate people to find out what loving sports is all about!”

Here you can see Katie during one of her training sessions in the Walloon countryside back in June. Find out more about Katie and other IDF Europe & TeamBG riders here!
